This is a 3 hour tour that samples Cumberland’s local singletrack. This guided tour will showcase Cumberland’s trails based on the fitness level and technical abilities of the group. During this tour expect to ride a fine selection of Cumberland’s home grown trails. Your ride will begin in downtown Cumberland and within minutes you will be riding through forests of varying age on purpose built mountain bike trails. These trails contain a variety of natural and man made features. We will show you the creek-side descents, the twisty traverses, the wealth of hand crafted cedar bridges and flowy berms of the Cumberland network.

The Cumberland Full Day tour will show you a large inventory of our finest local trails. This ride will take you all around the area and will show you many of the Cumberland Classics. On this ride you will ride near Allen Lake and Perseverance Creek, you will also see great views of Vancouver Island’s Beaufort Range, the Coast Range, Cape Lazo, the Georgia Straight, the Northern Gulf Islands and more. All of our Cumberland rides start right in the heart of downtown Cumberland. Within minutes you will be experiencing Cumberland’s famous homegrown singletrack as you climb and traverse through the twisty trails. Our guides will show you the cherry way up and once you have gained the necessary elevation, the best way down to maximize descending time. The descents you will ride are what makes Cumberland famous and we will show them to you in the best order.
Puntledge Explorer:

This 1/2 Day tour is perfect for beginner to intermediate riders. On this ride we will explore the trails of Puntledge River recreation area and Nymph Falls Regional Park. These trails are twisty and fun as they skirt parallel to the banks of the Puntledge River and near Comox Lake. We will guide you through mature forests on a distinct selection of trails as we travel up river, across the Comox Lake Dam and then down river on the other side. Elevation gain and loss is minimal although short up and down sections provide for some fun climbs and descents. During this ride we will make our way to Nymph Falls where we will stop for a snack right along the Puntledge River. This is a great tour with fun, fast trails in a beautiful environment.

This ride begins near the Puntledge River as we warm up with the fun twisty trails of the Puntledge River Recreation area. After enjoying panoramic views during a 10 km climb up to Forbidden Plateau, you will descend through some of the best singletrack that Vancouver Island has to offer. The trails roll fast through mature forests and then out onto rocky bluffs. These rocky sections are a unique feature of the local topography and provide spectacular viewpoints where you will have a 180 degree or more panoramic view. From these viewpoints you experience views of the Comox Glacier, the Beaufort Range, Comox Lake, Georgia Straight, the Northern Discovery Islands and the Coast Range. A true local epic!

This unique day of riding is a true treat for all gravity seekers. This service is a treat to IMR clients who following the tour will need to vow to replace all carbon used during the day! The Forbidden Plateau trail network is an all-mountain paradise. The trails are gnarly flow; technical trails that flow at a nice speed, a few steep sections here and there, but not too crazy for too long. Just right for modern all-mountain bikes and riders who want a fun challenge. On these trails you can get up to speed to flow through tight forested sections that spill out onto open rocky bluffs. The trails are diverse and provide a fun filled day of riding. With at private driver (Yes, private driver!) and the IMR van, we will do 2 – 3 fossil fuel assisted ascents up Plateau Road to the trailhead. On the descents, your guide will lead the way and show you all the great trails including such trails as; Two Shieks and a Dog, Cabin Fever, Transmission, White Rabbit and more. The tour includes a healthy, hearty, locally prepared lunch that we will enjoy at a beautiful viewpoint where we will have a panoramic view where you will see views of the Comox Glacier, the Beaufort Range, Comox Lake, Georgia Straight, the Northern Discovery Islands and the Coast Range.
Hornby Island Odyssey:

Hornby Island is a true paradise and is a great riding experience for all levels of riders. The quaint island charm and the spectacular scenery, combined with the amazing riding makes Hornby the perfect destination. A short climb up from the ferry terminal puts you into the trails of Mt. Geoffrey Park. As you climb along the ridge, you will look back over Denman Island towards Vancouver Island. It is from here, looking west that you will realize the full beauty of Vancouver Island, it’s mountains, neighbouring islands and their coastlines. After gaining the summit of Mt. Geoffrey we will then flow the vast array of singletrack that Hornby has to offer. IMR can tailor this experience to sample a few trails or a major amount of the Hornby inventory. To top off the full experience, after a great day of riding, a visit to the local marketplace, the bike shop and then a swim in the azure waters of Tribune Bay is a must.

The trails in Campbell River are famous due to the vast amount of singletrack and the ability to do long rides without riding the same trail twice. This tour will show you the absolute best of what Campbell River has to offer. During this tour you will climb up and over rock bluffs, ride through mature forests and ride along the edges of secluded lakes. Throughout the ride you will be immersed in the beautiful forest and your guide will only ascend out of the forest to show you views of the ocean, neighbouring mountains and local lakes, rivers and streams. The singletrack in Campbell River is virtually endless and varies from high speed flow to the ultimate test of technical ability. IMR can take you there and will adjust the ride to suit your riding style, fitness level and technical abilities.

Booking and Cancellation Policy:
Island Mountain Rides is located in British Columbia, Canada. All prices quoted are in Canadian Dollars.
IMR provides quality mountain biking tours on Vancouver Island. We are fully insured and have legal land use agreements for all lands guided upon.
Island Mountain Rides requires written notice 30 days prior to the tour date to receive a 100% refund. All cancellations within 30 & 15 days of the tour date will be refunded 50%. Tours canceled within 14 days of the tour date are 100% non-refundable.
Island Mountain Rides provides tours in all weather conditions and reserves the right to change the tour location based on the weather or resulting trail conditions. All changes in destination will be at the discretion of Island Mountain Rides.
Island Mountain Rides provides tours on lands owned and managed by several different land owners/managers. IMR must adhere to the specific guidelines noted in these permits. If maintenance, road building, logging or other activities exist in tour areas then IMR reserves the right to change the tour location as needed.
Refunds are not provided when locations are changed due to weather, industrial activity or any other reason. We will change location to a comparable area that is suited for guiding activity on the date requested.
